Next leg of the trip, one day in Manaus before we head out to the middle of the jungle for 4 days.
We took a walk through the city and our phrase of the day ended up being "Manaus is a bit shit".
There's next to nothing to do tourism-wise, every street is like commercialism on steroids, loud, crowded, dirty, dozens of stores all selling the same things (I saw more opticians here than I ever have in my life). I have no idea how any one of them is making any kind of money.
This photo is of the "Municipal market", theoretically a traditional-style indoor market, but is in actuality a row of butchers and then wave after wave of stalls selling the exact same tourist souvenir kitsch. Really left a bad taste in my mouth.
