Day 190: Airport Santa

Even in Brazil the (secular) imagery of Christmas is strongly influenced by the North American and European markets, so even here where Christmas occurs in the height of Summer, Santa still wears the big fluffy coat and hat, people being "festive" at work might also wear the fluffy hat, and many people decorate plastic pine trees. Pine trees don't even grow in Brazil!

Side note: Landing in Rio is slightly terrifying. The approach takes a sharp turn towards the runway right at the end, then the runway itself is basically an island in the water, only as long as itself. The pilot certainly thought it was scary, because just before touchdown we picked back up again and went for another try.
